JYOSHINMON SHORIN-RYU

Congratulations to all our members who participated in our Interclub Kata Tournament!

This event was for Kata only which was held on 16th August, and it was open to all members from our 5 Jyoshinmon Dojos. It was an opportunity for students new to competition.

Our thanks to Sensei Jason Ng (photo above) who presented the Kata Seminar prior to the tournament for members with Grade 2nd Kyu and above. He was also our Head Referee at the tournament.
The session covered the criteria required to judge and referee a Kata match as well as all the new rules and regulations from the World Karate Federation. 

Thank you to Sensei Chante Betham for hosting the event at Mangere Bridge Dojo, and also to Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Beaty Bennett and Sensei Chris Bennett who organised the draws. Thank you to the following who helped judge at the event with some also learning how to Marshall:

A special thanks to Sensei Sevita Sabine who helped with the certificates, and we got to meet her adorable new baby boy.

There was also a Team Kata demonstration by Senseis Jose, Bruce and Ross (photo above), and they performed Bassai Sho which is one of our Betsuden 2 Kata.
