It was a very good turnout for the first Special Competiton Training Day held at the Honbu Dojo in New Lynn, on Saturday 12th April.
The training sessions were aimed at those who have not entered a tournament before or have only entered one or two. We explained how tournaments are run by Karate New Zealand, the basic rules and equipment requirements. There was a mock tournament for practice rounds plus training on judging and scoring.
We are very grateful to our Dan Grade members who helped our Senseis with coaching and training. Thank you to our Senseis for their time out of their weekend to participate at this event:
Sensei Chris Bennett
Sensei Chante Betham
Sensei Sevita Sabine
Sensei Jose Castillo
Sensei Bruce Sabine
Sensei Ross Sabine
Sensei Jojina Bennett
Senpai Sian Bennett-Motuliki
Senpai Dev Banga
Senpai Joshua Quizon
Senpai Ishaan Narayan
And thank you to Sensei Beaty for arranging the lunchroom and packed lunches.
We would also like to express our appreciation to the other students for their understanding as the usual Saturday classes was cancelled for this event. There are competition training sessions on Saturdays at the New Lynn Dojo but to join is by invitation only through Sensei Chris Bennett.
